QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Description
· Research, develop, evaluate, and deploy novel and sustainable materials for our future products as well as improvements to existing products
· Create and lead new product development projects
· Search and lead strategic partnerships around the globe with material suppliers and/or academic institutions to develop new or improved sustainable materials for use in products.
· Conduct detailed industry and competition analyses to identify best industry material innovation practices.
· Perform chemical analysis and physical property testing of materials and products.
· Conduct research into identification of alternative formulations/raw materials to generate product cost savings and improve process efficiencies
· Carry out and support new channel and business development studies for new and existing product group,
· Carry out characterization and test method development studies related to products and raw materials.
Overview and Job Responsibilities
In your new role you will responsible for leading compound development projects. The R&D Engineer will apply a systematic and designed experimental approach to develop new polymeric compounds and evaluate changes in material performance prior to commercial scale-up in our manufacturing plants.
· Drives cost reduction and enhanced performance compound development from bench scale to commercialization.
· Meets with key raw material suppliers to keep updated on technology developments.
· Estimate the costs, resources, and time required for a compound development project and monitor performance to ensure these targets are met.
· Creates and modifies compound specifications to support the manufacture of new or existing compounds.
· Prepares informative and accurate technical reports.
· Updates and maintains records/database on compound changes or modifications.
· Coordinates laboratory experiments through Technical Service Requests.
· Works independently and provides guidance to laboratory technicians to complete project tasks.
Who are we looking for?
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials/Polymer Science, or related engineering discipline – required.
· Must have at least two (2) or more years of advance experience working as R&D engineer with similar responsibilities – required.
· Hands on experience with Polymer Compound development and processing.
· Good understanding of Structure Property Relationships of Polymer blends.
· Previous experience with Polymer Compound development & testing in the wire & cable industry – preferred.
· Excellent communication skills, inter-personal skills, and ability work with cross functional teams.
· Proven track record of delivering projects and communicating results
· Ability to work as an individual or within a team
· Sound technical skills and attention to detail
