Marine Surveyor/Business Development Manager

We are seeking for an enthusiastic Marine Surveyor/Business Development Manager to join our team in Istanbul, Turkey.
Working with the IRS marine team and under the guidance of the Managing Director, you will be responsible for:
• Visit vessels, marine structures, and manufacturers for routine survey activities.
• Perform work that involves conventional surveying practices but may include moderately complex problem resolution and coordination of activities among other disciplines.
• Prepare technically accurate and timely survey reports, and response to letters, faxes, and other forms of communication.
• Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
• Cold call as appropriate within your market to ensure robust pipeline of opportunities.
• Coordinate with the country manager for follow up on leads, proposals issued contracts, etc.
• Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
• Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
• Research and build relationships with new clients.
• Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s leaders/Principals.
• Prepare contract review based on filled-in application received from the client, in conjunction with the Survey Station Manager.
• Participate in pricing the solution/service.
• Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
• Demonstrate an awareness of the certification services range offered by the officer of the country.
• Communicate and interact with internal departments, survey station and external clients in a professional manner.
• Ability to plan, delegate and monitor business activities
• Ensuring targeted Business and proposing business plans, identifying potential customers & strong follow up.
• Keeping track & attending upcoming exhibitions, Seminars, Training sessions, Business meets etc.
• Maintain files in an orderly and up-to-date manner
• Any other tasks as set by the management to improve business.
Qualification or Experience:
• Bachelor degree in Naval Architecture Marine Engineer from a reputed university or equivalent;
• Three (3) years’ experience in a technical marine related company; or
• Five (5) years’ experience in a marketing/sales marine operation position.
• Certificate of competency as Chief Engineer (Class I) with sailing experience as a Chief Engineer;
• Certificate of competency as Master Mariner (Class I) with sailing experience as a Master;
• Qualifications from a tertiary institution within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum two-year programme); or
• qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant seagoing experience as a certificated ship officer • Successfully completed a recognized ISM/ISO auditor course.
• Successfully completed a recognized ISPS auditor/CSO/SSO course.
• Successfully completed a recognized Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) 2006 Inspector training course.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Ability to read engineering plans and have a basic understanding of shipbuilding practices and vessel operations.
• Ability to perform surveys in the prescribed format.
• Must have a working knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.
• Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.
• Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.
• Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, pertinent information relative to assigned area of technical expertise.
• Ability to analyze problems and propose solutions.
• Responsiveness to customers.
• Ability to work well with others.
