Environmental and Sustainability Specialist
About The Opportunity
A growing international company operating in Turkey has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental and Sustainability Specialist to join our team in the Western Turkey.
Primary Scope of Role
· To assist in updating the company’s HEES system with ESG principles;
· To provide guidance, support, advice and compliance monitoring on Environment and Sustainability (E&S) to ensure compliance with the company’s ESG environment, business plans and board documents;
· To provide on-site engagement, coaching and support on E&S and promote safe behavior’s on site and in our community.
As An Environmental And Sustainability Specialist You Will
· Contribute to the implementation of the Zero Harm & Sustainability Action Plan both internally and externally;
· Provide support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events;
· Undertake planned & unplanned inspections, audit and reviews of projects with respect to ESG;
· Produce formal reports on findings and communicate these to Senior Management;
· Contribute to local and national E&S projects (e.g. Involved Plans, Social Value, Environmental Social Management Plans);
· Support the design teams during planning stage to identify and control risk;
· Engage with site teams to identify best practice environmental mitigations and improved environmental compliance;
· Deliver on-going approved E&S Awareness Training to meet project and business needs;
· Actively provide support and guidance to the supply chain & subcontractors;
· Assist in the development of E&S case studies and best practice;
· Assist in the compilation of risk assessments and written environmental safe systems of work;
· Support the delivery of briefings & toolbox talks at most operations;
· Ensure the project is compliant with all E&S Regulations, Company Policies and ESG commitment;
· Provide E&S advice and support at an operational level;
· Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated across the Project /Business area;
· Promote E&S initiatives and innovations across their Project /Business area;
· Support the local audit program across their Project /Business area;
· Identify and support ecological enhancement activities.
Personal Qualities And Experience
· Member of IEMA would be desired;
· Educated to Degree level in a relevant field;
· Good English language skills
· Good communicator with influencing and persuasion skills;
· Approachable;
· Good interpersonal skills and team player;
· Displaying and demonstrating team behavior at all times;
· Incident investigator/fact finder;
· Accurate record keeping;
· Relevant experience matched with their Project /Business area.
