QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

IMECE is looking for a skilled Psychologist to help us provide quality service to our beneficiaries. This position is a great opportunity for you to gain experience in the humanitarian sector and develop your skills. You will also be an important member of our team focusing on migrants who has been victims of violence and displaced.

You will be working in Center located in Izmir and also you will be helping beneficiaries to providing psychological support to beneficiaries according to IMECE principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the beneficiaries’ mental health. In the context of the starting up and consolidation of a center for psychological support for migrants and in collaboration with the different professionals.

Your tasks as PSYCHOLOGIST includes:

• Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of beneficiaries and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the beneficiary and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring beneficiaries to other health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the beneficiaries' condition
• Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
• Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to beneficiaries according to IMECE protocols to improve their mental health conditions
• Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary to enhance the scope of MH activities. Working in close collaboration with translators to ensure appropriate terminology and behavior during sessions
• Conduct intake interviews of beneficiaries to consolidate their expectations, detail the services provided at the Centre, explain the limitations and identify the primary needs
• Under the supervisor’s guidance, establish contact and networking with NGOs, community-based organizations and government structures providing social services to the migrants
• Share and regularly update the information on social work legislation, more particularly the ones related to specific vulnerable groups (women, children, elderly, disabled persons, migrants etc.)
• Facilitate psychosocial group interventions considering discussion with supervisor and beneficiaries´ needs
• Take care of social services facilities, materials and equipment to ensure continuity.

Requirements

We are looking for a dedicated person who has the professional approach and wants to help our beneficiaries gain a better life. We do expect our candidates to have the following requirements.

• Degree in Clinical Psychology
• Essential working experience of at least two years in SoVs & NGOs
• High level Turkish and English, both written and verbal
• French and Arabic are highly prefered, at least one of language in writtten and verbal
• Working experience with victims of violance
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Internet)
• Strong communication, organizational and social skills (attentive listening, open attitude, empathy, sensitivity)
• Interest in helping vulnerable population
• Strong mental mindset
• Ability to perform with minimum supervision

• Full time position (Monday to Friday from 09:00-18:00)
