QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

The successful candidate will take part in Combustor Design of gas turbine engines in Concept, Preliminary and Detailed phases and will collaborate with engineering disciplines.

The successful candidate will design state of the art gas turbine engine combustors using in house and commercial design tools and will also play a significant role in developing advanced technologies in combustion.

Responsibilities:

  • Take part in the development of design methodologies of combustion chambers,
  • Contribute to the development of combustion chamber using best practices in computational simulation of liquid fueled combustion systems,
  • Plan and participate ground testing of combustion systems and subsystems,
  • Verify the combustor design, analytical models and tools by using the test results of whole-engine and components,
  • Prepare and present technical data for internal and external customers,
  • Having ability to think strategically and solve problems,
  • Collaborate cross functionally with design, development and test groups.

Qualifications:

  • BSc. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field with a solid knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer,
  • At least 5 years of experience of combustion/combustor design in industrial or academic environment,
  • Solid experience with the application of commercial CFD codes (ANSYS CFX/Fluent, Siemens Star-CCM+ or similar software) for unsteady/reactive flow applications,
  • Knowledge of at least one of known programming languages (Fortran, C++, Python, etc.),
  • Ability to use CAD software (CATIA, NX, or similar software) for basic design purposes,
  • Fluent in English,
  • Aiming a career in aviation,
  • Advanced degree on combustion and/or internal flow fields is a plus,
  • Completion of undergraduate/graduate courses relevant to combustion is a plus,
  • Experience with cooling applications on hot surfaces is a plus,
  • Experience on planning and performing combustion experiments in a laboratory environment and theoretical/computational analysis is a plus,
  • In-house CFD code development experience is a plus,
  • Experience with Linux systems & HPC processes is a plus.
