QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Engineering Manager
Summary of Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities and tasks of this position are as listed below, but not limited to these:
- Lead and oversee the day to day operation of the Engineering department
- Ensure the effective preventative maintenance to all plant, machinery, equipment, building and services Provide cost effective and safe repairs to all physical assets
- Monitor and control the energy consumption of the property
- Devise and implement maintenance reporting procedures to be used by all departments
- Establish contingency plans for interruption to services and essential equipment
- Establish an effective work order system
- Advise General Manager on any planning activities as they relate to the property, in particular any capital improvement programs
- Monitor trends in technology, evaluate possible implementation with the Hotel and disseminate this information to senior management
- Establish a maintenance strategy for all assets under the control of the Engineering Department
- Negotiate and establish service contracts based on agreed service levels with selected service providers and contractors against benchmarks
- Conduct regular inspections of plant and equipment, public areas, back of the house areas and external areas to ensure the highest standards of maintenance are being followed
- Compile audits and reports documenting Engineering activities as they relate to maintenance
- Ensure the maintenance testing and certification of essential services to comply with all statutory requirements
- Follow departmental policies and procedures
- Follow all safety policies
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
We are looking for a well organized and creative candidate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is able to display a “passion for perfection” and work in a dynamic environment. In addition, the candidate should possess:
- Previous senior leadership experience within Engineering
- Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications and or relevant computer applications required
- University/College degree in a related discipline required
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
- Fluent writing, reading and speaking in English
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
