İstanbul Grand Airport
The first phase of the Istanbul Airport, which is the largest infrastructure project in the history of the Turkish Republic, opened for service on October 29, 2018; since April 6th 2019, the airport is operational with all units and at full capacity. Covering an area of 76.5 million square meters, the new airport serves as a global hub between Asia, Africa and Europe.
Istanbul Airport is 35 kilometers away from the city center. The construction is planned to be completed in four phases, within the scope of the first phase, Istanbul Airport operates with five runways, 3 independent and two standby runways, a terminal building and air traffic control tower with a capacity to serve 90 million passengers. Once all phases of the airport are operational, it is expected that the facility to achieve a capacity of 200 million passengers. İGA mainly aims is making Istanbul Airport one of the most important hubs of the world.
