QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science, Sabancı University is looking for a highly motivated and solution-oriented System Administrator responsible for day-to-day support, monitoring, and maintenance for the High-Performance-Computing (HPC) system. The HPC System Administrator will also support HPC users to effectively run their in-house applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor the high-performance computing system daily to ensure continuous operation.
- Report and take necessary actions to resolve HPC system failure in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and system failure.
- Contact hardware and software providers for maintenance and warranty service when necessary.
- Collect statistics of usage, report and analyze them on a monthly basis and make purchasing plans to expand the HPC system
- Install and configure new HPC system from scratch, which includes installing Linux system and GPU drives and configuring network and HPC system.
- Add or remove computing servers, master server, and storage servers for HPC system.
- Assemble servers from hardware parts, and configure/reconfigure them into HPC system.
- Provide prompt support to the HPC users to ensure smooth operation of their in-house applications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert knowledge of the Linux operating system and network systems
- Strong problem-solving skills in tracking hardware, software and network problems and providing solution to resolve such problems promptly as system administrator.
- Knowledge and experience in HPC configuration, HPC environments, and HPC hardware; preferred, but not absolutely a must as the necessary training will be provided in due time.
- Familiarity with high performance GPU hardware and its installation
- Familiarity with windows system, office software, VPN, etc.
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Minimum Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Degree in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or related subjects
- 5+ years’ working experience in a related position
