QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

The Steam Power Medical Director will be responsible for the administration and coordination of various medical programs. The role will report functionally to EHS and operationally to HR function

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Disability case management
  • Workers compensation case management
  • Clinical care with referrals of any serious cases for evaluation by local occupational medicine physicians.
  • Work closely with Steam Power EHS, HR, Security and Medical personnel, while collaborate with Corporate & other businesses Medical teams.
  • Coordination with local and international insurance providers, including act as SP ISOS point of contact
  • ITO/Bidding/pre-qualification Medical support
  • Select and hire medical staff
  • Coach and support the local medical staff globally
  • Ensure the full compliance to GE corporate medical programs & develop needed programs to meet our client/regulatory needs:
    • Occupational Health Policy and Procedure Development
    • Investigations & support Environmental and Occupational Health Hazards,
    • Medical Surveillance Program Development and Implementation.
    • Fitness for duty medical evaluation programs
    • Travel Medicine and Remote Site Health services
    • Workers Compensation and Disability Case Management
    • Ergonomic Program Development and Oversight
    • Chemical Product Stewardship- Medical Oversight
    • Chemical Product Stewardship- Emergency Response
    • Health Hazard Evaluations and Risk Assessment Analyses
    • Risk Communication- Development/ Presentation
    • Health Benefits Utilization Analyses
    • Occupational Health Service Audits/ Assessments
    • MRO and Drug Testing Programs
    • On-site Occupational Medicine Service Support and Oversight
    • Executive Physical Exam Programs
    • Foreign Travel Exam Programs
    • Remote Site Health Programs/ Support
    • Wellness program development and implementation
  • Act as decision maker regrading HR / EHS medical case reviews (higher flight class, return to work, restricted work, legacy cases, 2nd opinion on work related medical cases, medical emergency response …)


Required Qualifications:

  • Have a Medical degree (MD)
  • Registered as a Medical Doctor
  • Have at least 10 years’ experience in Medical Field, at least 5 years’ spent in the field of Occupational Health
  • Be comfortable providing both administrative and clinical services
  • Hold an accredited Occupational Health certificate

  • Master of health administration (MHA) or Master of business administration (MBA) advantageous
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
  • Experience working with distributed workforces, preferred in one of the following industries: Wind Power, Oil & Gas Industry, Boilers, or Gas & Steam Turbine Maintenance
  • Preferred GE Medical experience
