Assistant Sales Manager (Event) is responsible for achieving the hotel room revenue, banquet food & beverage revenue, spa revenue and other incremental financial objectives of the hotel by being proactively to be in charge of local and international travel agents/tour operators, conference-meeting-incentive organizers/DMCs, key corporate accounts, government accounts, embassy and consulates. Responsible for managing assigned FIT & Leisure Group accounts and following up to materialize the budgeted revenues through existing clientele and prospects.

Core Activities


  • Support the Director of Sales and the sales team in their day to day activities and to assist them in achieving the value-based guest relationships that enable the achievement of sales objectives.
  • Maintain and update inventory: control of all gifts and giveaways
  • Compile daily/weekly and/or monthly reports
  • Assist with the coordination of direct mail campaigns on behalf of sales and marketing, labelling, data collection and distribution of mail items
  • Annual contracting administration for corporate and leisure business
  • Coordinate and assist in organising sales trips
  • Travel locally, nationally and internationally as necessary to conduct outside sales calls, attend trade shows and presentations to promote the hotel and develop new business.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, FAM trips, trade shows, etc
  • Assist Director of Sales and Revenue Manager to ensure pricing and revenue strategies are aligned with the market in order to maximize revenue.
  • Participate in sales calls with members of the sales team to acquire new business and/or close on business.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, guest correspondence)
  • Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them
  • Close the best opportunities for the location based on market conditions and location needs
  • Gain an understanding of the location’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, in order to offer the best business solution
  • To solicit existing and potential customers and follow up established accounts on a regular basis by phone, by correspondence or by personal contact
  • To follow the sales and marketing results and propose corrective actions if needed
  • Responsible for key account management on an assigned account base or geographic area, ensuring revenue maximization, the achievement of personal targets, and increasing fair market share versus competitor set
  • Responsible for prospecting new accounts
  • Assist the Sales Team in defining an annual sales action plan and executing set actions accordingly
  • On weekly basis, to prepare an activity report which will cover sales call reports, site inspections, fam trips, new agencies, meetings, entertainment and other functions she/he participated in during the week and presents to Director of Sales.

Competencies

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position in the hospitality industry (5* Hotel or Resort)
  • Fluency in English and Turkish
  • Strong computer skills, exceptional detail and follow up, excellent time management skills and the ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques with strong skills and ability to negotiate and close sales
  • Experienced in MS Office and OPERA programs
