QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Üsküdar American Academy, founded in 1876, is one of the leading private schools in Turkey. We offer the Turkish national curriculum, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The school is highly selective and prides itself on its world-class academic outcomes.
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, highly motivated, and inspirational Head Librarian.
Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Graduated from library management, data and document management, or equivalent.
- Advanced English language skills.
- A minimum of eight years of experience as a librarian.
- Demonstrated ability in using MS Office, Google Suits, and Follett library planning/management system preferably.
- Collaborative personality, and the ability to model professionalism
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills in establishing constructive relationships.
- A confident public speaker capable of delivering presentations to groups of people.
- Flexible with a growth mindset and able to evidence lifelong learning.
- Demonstrated ability in workplace management, and effective use of current resources.
Job Description
- Determines goals and objectives and implements them through the library program as an integral part of the school curriculum.
- Develops policies that meet curricular, informational, and recreational needs of students.
- Works with appropriate personnel to develop a unified approach to the development of information systems within the school.
- Provide leadership and guidance to other library professional staff and clerical staff.
- Keeps necessary records and statistics and writes reports on the status of the program.
- Prepares justifies and administers the library budget.
- Teaches information literacy (how to access, evaluate and use print and electronic information effectively) and literature appreciation skills to students.
- Provides an orientation of library materials, organization, rules to new students.
- Gives book talks.
- Coordinates library instruction with class assignments.
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal.
