QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Role purpose

Reliable seed production for selected main crops
Profitable and sustainable production in Turkey.
In order to achieve this the following jobs are essential
Growing of plants from seed till harvest to the highest possible standard.
Ensure proper watering, fertilization, disease control and climate control.
Initiating, organizing and reporting of seed production research.
Developing and maintaining the seed production protocols.
Advising and monitoring the execution of seed production on technical merits including quality control.
This position will be located in Karacabey/M.K.Paşa (BURSA) and will be reporting to Production Manager

Accountabilities

Analyze fertilization levels, decide on fertilization solutions, program and monitor the fertilization equipment.
Check watering levels and decide on the watering schedule for produced crops.
Frequently check for pest&diseases&climate and decide on a treatment program.
Frequently check with foremen on crop quality and make agreed adaptations.
Communicate with Production Manager upon changing of set protocols/procedures at the site. Support developing standardized programs at the site related to assigned crops.
Provide technical support as needed for assigned crops.
Bring new technology, advancements, and knowledge to related to seed production for; Share and train best practice with key staff.
Link between the farmer (Worker, foramens and pollinators) and TAKII production team. Manage and organize his production team and develop team capability.
Direct people responsibility: Workers, foremen, farmers.
Communicate with Global Seed Production Specialist upon changing of set protocols/procedures at the site.
Support, advice and report to the Production Manager

Critical success factors & key challenges

Knowledge, experience & capabilities

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture/Horticulture or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
Minimum 5 years experience in vegetable seed industry
Ability to communicate effectively verbal and in writing
Fluent in English/very good Turkish
Computer literate: fluent with Word, XLS, Power Point and making effective use of databases
Supply Planning knowledge in his area.
Entrepreneurial attitude, creating business opportunities, challenging current concepts.
Ability to analyze businesses and business situations and decide accordingly
Strong in organization, planning and control
Ability to negotiate with the most valuable accounts
