QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Role:
A Product Owner oversees the development of products from start to finish to ensure they meet the clients’ needs and preferences. Their main duties include determining the overall vision of products, managing various backlog items, and deciding which features each product will have according to clients’ preferences. Product Owners work closely with other roles like; Project Manager, Software Developer, Business Analyst, Test Engineer, UI/UX Designer, Business Unit, etc.
Responsibilities:
Product owners spend most of their time with customers, business units, and development teams. They facilitate the team’s understanding of the product vision and road map and support the team in refining and absorbing requirements. They inform the customer about technical constraints which affect the product development cycle if needed. As part of their role on a product team, a successful Product Owner should fulfill the following duties and responsibilities:
- Interact with and fully understand end-users and their needs through direct feedback. Have a deep understanding of customer problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Drive delivery of new features with other product owners, engineering, and data science teams.
- Identify and validate new feature ideas through experimentation and data, making clear decisions on priority and roadmap.
- Interact with the development team to articulate requirements and the needs of the end-users.
- Scope, plan and deliver an actionable product backlog and ship high-quality features bi-weekly in an agile development process.
- Prioritize the product backlog according to research and pain points, or change the direction of the product that responds to market changes. This is an ongoing activity with the Product Team.
- Write clear user stories and Acceptance Criteria.
- Determine and drive the MVP (minimal viable product).
- Make benchmark analysis for the product.
- Together with the product team, produce the release plan and get the approval of stakeholders. And rework the plan when needed.
- Drive the development of prototypes, and test ideas with users (for example, A/B testing techniques).
- Lead products end-to-end, partner cross-functionally to monitor customer adoption, engagement, and satisfaction metrics.
- Develop KPI concepts, dashboards and measure the impact of newly released features with a Data-Driven mindset.
- Identify stakeholder group(s): users, customers, management team, other product owners, etc.
- Maintain a line of communication with the stakeholder group(s).
- Raise risks and issues with the team.
- Produce documentation and training to support stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications :
Product owners are product visionaries. They often work with multiple teams and departments and need to be able to communicate and take ownership. Therefore, there are some essential skills that every good product owner should have:
- Have a strong technical ability and experience as a Product Person, ideally in a data capacity in an?e-commerce & marketplace?or related field.
- Have a proven track record of delivering successful, data-oriented products.
- Be able to define and communicate product vision or strategy to others.
- Have experience in driving product development through all phases of the product lifecycle.
- Previous working experience as a Product Owner for 5 years
- Entrepreneurship skills or experience.
- Creative thinker.
- Strategic thinking.
- Product Management.
- Experience in sales or marketing is an advantage.
- Management of stakeholders and their expectations.
- Deep understanding of and experience with Agile methodologies.
- Ability to work?with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal.
- Interpersonal skills and developing relationships with team members and customers.
- Experience with a?definition of minimum marketable features and minimum viable products.
- Know how to define the?product roadmap.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.

Preferred Certifications: PMI-PBA, PSPO, IIBA-CBAP
