QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description Summary

The Project Quality Manager (PQM) is responsible for ensuring engineering, material, and equipment Quality requirements are met for assigned New Unit and CM&U projects. The PQM interfaces with the customer on all quality-related subjects and coordinates activities internally with GE functions.
Is accountable for customer satisfaction through management of project related Quality activities and deliverables through collaboration with various Quality functions, including Suppliers, Factories, Engineering and Site Teams.
The PQM also provides direct support to the Proposal Leader for Project Quality management during ITO proposal phase as well as to the Project Manager/Project Director for Project Quality management during the project execution phase.

Job Description

In this role, the PQM will:

  • Be the main Quality point-of-contact for external Customers
  • Analyze/comment/negotiate Quality requirements and deliverables during the proposal phase
  • Provide in depth knowledge and understanding of assigned projects contracts (Quality Plans), and what actions impact Customer requirements. Ensure Customer quality requirements are distributed and understood within the respective functions; release specific procedures and hold meetings with support functions where needed to monitor progress and maintain schedule.
  • Manage the Customer Observation Points, prepare notifications & coordinate visits with GE shops and Suppliers
  • Manage Quality documentation, provide shop/supplier quality documentation End of Manufacturing Reports (EOMR) to Customer per schedule
  • Monitor, process and report status of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for your project portfolio
  • Ensure that the defined project quality objectives are achieved by measuring, auditing, and implementing necessary actions (through audits, NCR, RCA, 8D, Lessons Learned, etc.) to resolve quality issues on projects
  • Provide routine project status reports to Leadership based upon the requirements of the Business
  • Monitor Customer Experience (CX) surveys for projects and coordinate consecutive actions with functions where necessary
  • Champion Lean principles, taking an active role in the continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and deliverable in Project Quality organization

Required Qualifications:

    • Technical Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
    • Demonstrated technical aptitude and passion for quality
    • Fundamental knowledge of inspection and testing power plant equipment such as Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Generator, HRSG
    • 3+ years working experience related to Quality in Power Industry
    • Ability to travel regionally and internationally as per project needs
    • Fluent in English

Desired Characteristics:

    • Customer interface experience
    • Qualification in Quality Management Systems as Lead Auditor as per ISO 9001, etc.
    • Experience and training in Root Cause Analysis tools (e.g. 8D, Apollo, 5-Whys, etc.)
    • Factory, Field Engineering, or Site Construction & Commissioning Experience
    • Excellent written & verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with cross functional teams
    • Self-driven with strong facilitation skills
