Senior Database Geologist

We are global mining company which has several sites around the world. We are looking for dynamic, pro-active, analytical approached, enthusiastic, innovative, and self-motivated Senior Database Geologist for our headquarter in Ankara.

Job Profile

  • Establishing centralized database management system,
  • Being responsible for all data in and out of the Mine Geology Unit,
  • Developing, implementing, modifying, and maintaining database entry and query forms,
  • Reviewing data and ensuring that all of them are related to drilling, field sampling and mapping is collected and accurately entered into the database,
  • Following up the exploration database,
  • Supervising and guiding the Geology team to achieve best practice in all aspects of geological data generation from program design to collection in the field, through to final processing and data storage,
  • Liaising with field staff in tracking, drilling, and sampling activities,
  • Developing, implementing, and upgrading field data collection methods,
  • Creating and updating procedures, forms, and data capture objects,
  • Providing technical support and training in the implementation and utilization of new data capture technologies,
  • Liaising with, auditing, and maintaining all QA/QC data,
  • Coordinating implementation of sampling QA/QC processes including field standards, blanks, duplicates, sample collection methods, contamination issues and appropriateness of sampling methods, and ensuring that processes are following and reviewing on a routine basis,
  • Monitoring the performance of all assays generated by Mine Geology Unit,
  • Interfacing with on and offsite laboratories,
  • Introducing and maintaining GIS systems and applications as part of the daily operation of the Mine Geology Unit,
  • Supervising the implementation of new field technologies including GIS mapping and potentially digital production tracking, and training the other users,
  • Integrating existing spatial and geological data from drilling, mapping, and resource projects for use in GIS and mine planning applications,
  • Developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating the company’s technological resources on behalf of Mine Geology Unit,
  • Working within the technical and supervisory guidelines set by the Mine Geology Superintendent using and managing the resources available within the Mine Geology Unit,
  • Preparing daily, monthly, and statutory report figures and activity summaries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, master’s degree will be plus,
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of geological database management,
  • Working experience in multinational and English-speaking environment is plus,
  • Fluency in oral and written Turkish and English,
  • Good command of database related software and technologies, and MS Office applications,
  • Strong sense of analytical thinking, detail-oriented and solution-oriented,
  • Having superior time management skills,
  • Ability to take responsibility and being a good team player,
  • Be an active driver,
  • Availability to travel mine site for project needs and for short term assignments.
