Job Description
- Collect and check electrical systems information from customer and suppliers
- As part of the circuit team, at the customer and Yazaki, create engineering data to support the creation of Harness drawings
- Investigate the incorporation of new circuitry into existing EDS systems
- Investigate and create EDS system design proposals for new electrical systems
- Prepare mark-up drawings, marked up electrical schematics and engineering change documentation using Customer and Yazaki Systems
- Analyse systems and environment information to determine electrical requirements for circuit design, e.g: wire size, fuse rating etc.
- Check harness drawings during release process to ensure accuracy of systems design
- Support customer compatibility reviews to check EDS system design and follow up required actions
- Prepare EDS systems add and delete lists to support feature cost estimations for new programs or TVM actions
- Study any complexity effects of proposed or given design changes, internally or from the customer
- Analyse required harness complexity to support customer within the constraints of manufacturing, sequencing, and optimized giveaway cost
- Prepare complexity reduction / optimisation proposals based on system cost, option usage, harness production, etc.
- Support harness design reviews, prototype builds and test boards for EDS system issues
- Support investigation and resolution of DVP related EDS systems issues
- Fault finding and diagnostics on vehicle electrical systems
- Support prototype build with information and recommendations
- Participate in TVM & VA/VE activities
- Participate in benchmarking activity
- Support new business related activities
- Develop new ideas applicable to current and future programs
- Develop new tools to improve working efficiency
- Follow the department Quality System procedures and instructions
- Communicate with wiring harness plants for information exchange
- Assist with training of new staff
- Follow Yazaki Quality Management System (QMS) as defined in the Quality Management Handbook
Summary of the profile and background ;
- Physical schematics design as per harnesses topology, locate devices, define Inline connections and validate grounding - using CHS (Siemens).
- Apply the customer specifications and ensure DfM conformity at the design level.
- Analysis and creation of requests of product modifications (Engineering Changes) and schematics modifications (mark-up’s).
- Creation of detailed technical support documentation.
- Analysis of the OEM device design transmittals to assure requirements during the circuitry design.
- Perform wire dimensioning & fuse selection according EDS specs.
- Design of fusing strategy and power distribution.
- Analyses of voltage drops and fuse blow percentages.
- Apply and ensure customer SDS requirements.
- Perform circuit validations such us multi-crimps, splices, inline, grounds, circuit option codes, vehicle order validations and others.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Automotive Engineering
- Experience of working with, or design of, vehicle electrical systems
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
- Ability to read and understand vehicle wiring harness drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical/electronic system function and diagnostics
- Understanding of EDS design and development process
- Application of electrical theory
