QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Arup is one of the world top engineering and consultancy firms. We are seeking a senior Tunnel (Geological or Geotechnical) Engineer for our İstanbul Office to strengthen our Geotechnical Team.
· Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from reputable universities,
· MSc in Geotechnical Tunnel Engineering is preferable,
· Minimum 8 years of design experience in tunnel design,
· Working knowledge of standard office programs,
· Knowledge and experience on common tunnel analysis software programmes (2D, preferably 3D)
· Experience on local and major international codes,
· Excellent command of English, both written and spoken,
· Self-motivated, eager to learn and take responsibility on challenging projects,
· Effective communication and presentation skills,
· Able to work as an effective team member, result-oriented,
· No travel restrictions (national & international),
· For male candidates no military service obligation.
In your role you’ll work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team and share your technical knowledge to create innovative project solutions. You will work in collaboration with UK and Europe offices, supporting small and large scale projects. Your main responsibilities will be as follows:
· 2D/3D analysis and design of tunnels (both TBM and NATM/SCL tunnels) in highway and railway projects
· Good understanding of tunnelling processes, procedures and geotechnical principles
· Preparing reports through all design stages,
· Preparing design drawings and construction specifications, and review construction submittals for compliance with contract requirements and design assumptions will also be part of your normal job function.
· Management of the works associated with the ground movement assessments and associated mitigation measures and prepreation of monitoring plans.
· Supervision of tunnel operations where required
· Experience with coding (pyton and similar) and seismic design of tunnels will contribute to your success.
