QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduated from a Law faculty in Turkey and registered at the Bar Association of Turkey.
- At least 8 years of relevant work experience as a lawyer with a main focus on corporate and commercial law and preferably as an in-house legal counsel in an international company.
- Independent proactive mind who thinks like a lawyer and acts like an entrepreneur with business acumen and excellent communication skills.
- Recognized and trusted partner for business and management on all levels
- Sufficient general legal knowledge, self-organization and autonomy to act as the first contact point on any legal matters, both for the BASF teams in Turkey and Azerbaijan and for the Legal and Compliance functions of BASF Group abroad.
- Team player with the ability to work effectively in Turkish and English (full proficiency required).
- German language would be a plus.
- Ready to do short travels on a need basis to other BASF sites in Turkey and in Azerbaijan.
- Ability to prioritize in a fast-moving environment
JOB DESCRIPTION
In-house legal counsel and compliance officer for all legal, governance and compliance matters for BASF’s activities in Turkey and Azerbaijan, including inter alia the following regular tasks:
- Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements
- Advising and supporting on all legal topics including competition law and data protection
- Managing outside counsels when and where necessary
- Handling of litigation in liaison with outside counsels
- Handling corporate governance and housekeeping for the BASF companies
- Providing professional advice for business, functions, and management of BASF with a high degree of independence and responsibility
- Legal counterpart in Merger and Acquisition transactions.
- Planning and conducting compliance trainings
- Conducting investigations and case management
- Ensuring awareness of Compliance framework across all divisions at BASF
- Monitoring compliance with BASF’s global and local policies
