Project Toolchain Engineer

Work directly with the Process Release Engineer to ensure the requirements of the project’s tool chain are identified, in accordance with the project strategies which have been developed to achieve the process

Description

  • Proactively analyzes systems/software methods and tools, identifies opportunities for improvement and develops solutions
  • Uses demonstrated systems/software experience and lessons learned to drive engineering project teams to achieve their quality goals and leads project teams in the usage of PDS evolving methods and tools
  • Trains and transfers knowledge of the BorgWarner EDF standard tool sets to the engineering project teams.
  • Works closely with the engineering teams to monitor performance of the systems and the measure the effectiveness of the toolchain to meet project requirements.
  • Works closely with other functions to integrate the EDF tool interfaces to non-engineering systems
  • Collaborates with Tool Development Engineers to deliver an optimal engineering toolchain for the processes defined
  • Works closely with Tool Development Engineers to monitor performance of the systems and software tools in use on projects
  • Performs assessments of work products for adherence to standardized methods and tools.
  • Performs assessments of tool solutions to assure adherence to standards, processes and best practices
  • Performs random checks of methods and tools for consistencies and accuracy in projects.
  • Identifies and escalates issues for non-compliances.
  • Monitors the projects’ customization and usage of the standard methods and tools to make recommendations for improvements.

Profile

  • Demonstrated Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or Software Quality Assurance competency
  • Good written and oral communication skills and good interpersonal skills; effective working as a team member
  • Experience delivering a system/software product
  • Proficiency in using tools from one or more of the following tool domains: ALM, PLM, BPM, Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Work Product Reviews, Tool Integration, Cybersecurity, or Functional Safety
  • Tool Development process
  • Coding standards
