Purpose of Job: To ensure that the local Clariant Turkey products (in finished form) comply with the legal requirements of Turkey where they are manufactured, traded, and transported and/or handled by customers. Also, to ensure that Clariant products manufactured in, traded in, or imported into Turkey and/or sold to customers in Turkey or delivered to customers from Turkey comply with Turkey legal requirements and the legal requirements of the target country regarding chemicals management legislation.

Responsibilities
Essential Function 1: Policy, Guidelines and Procedures

  • Support company management to ensure compliance with national standards and regulations.
  • To supervise maintaining and updating the product safety related databases of Clariant Turkey company (SAP EH&S, SAMBA, national online systems, e.g. eCBS, KKS, BÜTS etc.)
  • To update the registration status, the safety data sheets and compliance statements (in finished form) which are produced or traded in Turkey.
  • To ensure completion of registrations and notifications of finished products and raw materials in the formulations regarding national chemicals management regulations in force
  • Supports company management in development and implementation of product safety policy and procedures

Essential Function 2: Budgeting and Planning

  • Support Line Management in preparation of departmental budget
  • Support Line Management in development of EHS & Compliance related goals and objectives together
  • Support Country Regulatory/PS and BU Management in identification / provision of resources needed for the implementation of product safety regulation (staff, monitoring equipment, services, work environment, etc.)

Essential Function 3: Functional Key Tasks

  • To screen the local products (in finished form) along with the criteria of the regulatory standards (e.g. cosmetic, plastics, food contact, RoHS etc.)
  • To support the marketing with toxicological and ecological arguments for the sales promotion (in setting up "green" brands and trademarks)
  • To classify local products (in finished form) according to the criteria of hazardous substances labelling in the EU and the rules for the transportation of dangerous goods by road (ADR), sea (IMDG) and air (IATA).
  • To process customer enquiries concerning physico-chemical, toxicological, and ecological aspects, compliance, and the compliance with the standards of the local products (in finished form).
  • To participate in the BU's “Product Approval Request” procedure: (compilation of a minimum safety data set for the local products prior to the creation of new material numbers in SAP)
  • Recommend appropriate actions for product safety (prevention, precautions against, or adequate control of exposure to hazardous substances, and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks).
  • To represent company towards local authorities in charge with chemical control legislations of finished chemical products
  • To keep contact with national industries associations as necessary.

Essential Function 4: Continuous Improvement

  • To administer or coordinate toxicological, ecological, physico-chemical and analytical studies for the local products (in finished form) at external contract laboratories in case of regulatory necessities.
  • To manage or coordinate the evaluation of the intrinsic toxicological, ecological, and physicochemical substance properties in risk assessments (for chemical safety reports e.g.)
  • Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions and alerts line managers about current and upcoming issues.

Requirements

  • University degree in Chemistry/chemical engineering
  • 3 years for experience in related area (preferably)
  • Excellent command of English and good knowledge of SAP/ERP system
  • Competent in Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • No travel restrictions
  • Military obligation for male candidates must have completed.
