QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB PURPOSE
The Slurry system design engineer position has responsibility to provide “fit for purpose”-solutions with aligning the performance of Weir products with customer requirements and optimise customers’ plants. The objectives of the position include: providing Slurry system solutions and improvements that will bring us closer to our customers and help to solve their problems, increase revenue and operational cost reduction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure Zero harm workplace and promote Weir safety culture
- Responsible for developing and delivering engineering solutions from feasibility to basic engineering for Slurry systems such as Classification, flotation slurry transfer, tailings pumping systems and mine water transfer
- Work closely with process engineers and customers to ensure the concepts meets the functional specification.
- Generate conceptual designs, GA drawings and P&ID’s based upon flow sheet solutions and customer specific requirements.
- Expected to provide technical support in the pre-sales and contract phases on matters concerning design, manufacture, construction, and operation.
- Presenting solutions to customers together with sales team
- Design work must be done within the required timescales and with sufficient level of accuracy.
- Conduct site surveys to ensure the solutions are compatible with existing customer plant and equipment.
- Ensure solutions are compliant with local and international standards.
- Ensure that the companies strict IP policies are adhered to at all times.
- A methodical approach to work with a understanding over all solution performance to ensure “fit for purpose” design and cost competitiveness
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering
- Min. 3 year plant design experience to generate GA, P&ID and Layouts in mineral processing plants, refineries, water treatment, Industrial plants, Sand and Aggregate Plants
- Or 5 years of operation/maintenance experience at process plant
- Experience using a major 3D CAD system, Autodesk Solutions, Solidworks, NX or similar software.
- Deep understanding of slurry process equipment and their working principles: Pumps, Pump sumps Cyclones, Valves, Slurry lines Thickener, Filterpress and similar simulation equipments
- Basic understanding of minerals processing control systems and instrumentation
- Able to recognize the opportunity and to design mineral processing improvements
- Ability to understand engineering drawings
- Point cloud experience is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products
- Strong technical reporting ability
- Must have a high level of personal integrity to protect the Companies Intellectual Property.
- Team player and self-starter with proven ability to accomplish project target, department and company objectives.
- Strong spoken and written English skills, Russian, Turkish and French are a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential, both internally and externally
- Ability to travel to site as and when desired for the project purposes.
- Awareness of cultural differences in and their impact in business.
- Must work well in a team and be able to communicate well with staff at all levels in the Business.
