QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Koç University Information Technology Directorate will be hiring a System Administration Senior Specialist (REMOTE) mainly responsible for all Koç University IT services with the below-mentioned qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in English
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and estimating skills
  • Competent in teamwork and time management.
  • No military obligation for male candidates
  • Minimum 6 years of System Administration or related experience is a must
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the prior knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for this education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate user requests; provide technical support; communicate effectively in Turkish & English orally and in writing. Provide documentation and training, work independently on assigned projects, and develop effective working relationships with various levels of IT and Non-IT personnel.
  • Experience with server hardware setup, management, and maintenance.
  • Skill in using and managing computers and Microsoft office Applications and Software (On-prem and Microsoft 365).
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud technologies and components: Azure AD, Microsoft365 Teams,AIP, Defender, CloudAppSecurity, ADFS, etc.
  • Strong understanding of SCCM with advanced knowledge of application deployment, patch management, operating system deployment, client and server maintenance, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Proficient in Linux (Debian and Redhat derivatives) and Windows Servers
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (VMware, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Experience installing, administering, and maintaining MS SQL Server and SSRS infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud Infrastructure management is highly desirable.
  • DevOps and software-defined systems experience is a big plus (Tools like Kubernetes, Docker, TeamCity, Octopus, Ansible, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Logging, Monitoring, and Metrics systems (PRTG, Prometheus, ElasticSearch, etc.)
  • Familiarity with SAN and Storage Systems
  • Familiarity with Load balancer systems (F5, Nginx Enterprise, etc.)

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Developing, testing, and deploying SSRS reports to production environments
    • Communicating with report consumers and other stakeholders to elicit and document reporting requirements and propose appropriate solutions.
    • Developing reporting requirements and obtaining sign-off from business stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the enterprise-class disk storage arrays
  • Managing, monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining Windows/Linux servers and virtualization infrastructure systems
  • Maintaining backup and restore operations of vSphere, AWS, and Azure platforms using enterprise-level tools and techniques
  • Managing, monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining Cloud Infrastructure on AWS and Azure
  • Installing and configuring an operating system, planning infrastructure capacity, improving performance, and ensuring daily operations are carried out
  • Installing, configuring, maintaining, and administrating virtual servers, storage systems
  • Day to day administration of SCCM environment to include engineering new solutions as needed
  • Performing operations such as monitoring servers, performance monitoring, creating, editing, managing alarms in monitoring tools, user management, and parsing user alarms
  • Ensuring the continuity of hardware infrastructure, operating systems, applications, and containers in a way that will provide uninterrupted service
  • Working with system users and vendor support personnel to resolve software/hardware problems
  • Developing and maintaining recovery strategies and procedures, ensuring the security of computing environments, keeping abreast of new features and issues to aid systems staff in patch management, and contributing to identifying and fulfilling daily, weekly and monthly goals of the Engineering unit. Identify and incorporate, where applicable latest techniques and trends in Windows / VMWARE platforms. Set up and manage DR hardware/software environments
  • Installing and testing operating system patches and upgrades using proper change management procedures. Providing documentation of operating system patches and upgrades and working with other system administrators to coordinate this support
  • Providing support to out-of-scope enterprise applications: Microsoft 365, GSuite. Working with the vendors to resolve problems. Communicating with vendors and business owners about enhancements and updates as needed
