Who we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive astute procurement officer who negotiates well and can ensure that all purchases are both cost-efficient and comply with company standards. Someone who could create opportunities to initiate relationships, identify significant opportunities for contribution, identify key contact in target organizations and find ways to make personal connections, and nurture the relationship over time to build rapport and trust and develop a basis for future interactions.


Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working in the procurement department in a related field
  • A graduate degree in purchasing management, business administration or other relevant area preferred
  • Working knowledge of the industry and market conditions
  • Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
  • Staying current in a demanding and changing business environment with new approaches, tools, methods and/or technologies that may impact the business.
  • Proficient computer skills with advanced skills on MS Office applications (IFS software knowledge strongly preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills both in Turkish and in English
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Able to travel to meet with suppliers
  • Able to manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Familiarity with vessels and their equipment


Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements and manages contracts and service level agreements for the procurement of goods, services and leases
  • Investigates, develops and promotes the use of progressive supply chain tools and technologies to accomplish procurement objectives
  • Reviews non-contracted purchases to identify opportunities for standardization, contracting and cost reduction
  • Purchases goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Prepares reports and updates as and when required
  • Prepares and raises purchase orders and order schedules
  • Ensures compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures
  • Contacts suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
  • Works closely with the company legal department to make sure contracts and terms are favorable
  • Tracks inventory levels, handles all aspects of shipping and receiving, and keeps accurate records


Working Conditions

  • Frequent use of computers.
  • Occasional travel to agency and vendor sites, as required.
  • Required to be flexible with regard to hours/days of work.
  • Involves physical work.
